Hitha & Boris

We all know how amazing it is to receive a sweet compliment. But has anyone told you that giving out a genuine compliment is even better and one of the simplest ways to practice and spread kindness.

Today’s belle caught my eye after her pictures were shared my way with nothing but adulation . The compliments were flowing galore and it struck me, wouldn’t it be just amazing if we actually shared compliments every time one popped into our heads. Kind words from strangers are particularly paramount because they’re given without any expectation to you.

As amazing as it is to receive a compliment, I think it’s even more remarkable to give one. Connecting with others even if it’s for a brief passing of time is what makes us human and most importantly, a definite mood lifter.

Now let’s head on over to meet our stunning duo, who truly command every compliment their way; Hitha and Boris. I think by now it’s no secret that I love unique names and especially ones with a meaning and a story. Hitha’s beautiful name is taken from Sanskrit which means “As God wills” and was chosen by her uncle. Usually, it’s the parents that step in with the name but there’s a lot more love in there when the privilege to choose a name – a huge part of your identity is shared with a sibling. Now if that’s not love, I don’t know what is ❤️.

Now your special day is sure-fire to be one of the most sentimentally charged days that you will experience in your whole life and this is even harder when there’s someone very special who is missing from your big day. It truly is never easy to spend your important life moments without family members that you hold so close to your heart.

Our grandparents are our first role models as we grow up. They mould who we are and who we are to become. When you lose such a special person, there is nothing more heartbreaking.  There are many ways to honor and acknowledge their love and support. Hitha chose to hold her grandmother close to her heart by incorporating a special sari worn by her grandmother into her fixation day. This stunning champagne beige anarkali with a violet bodice was transformed from her grandmother’s stunning sari allowing Hitha to have a little part of her there with them as she embarked on a new journey.

Our belle’s stunning makeup and cascading curls are courtesy of her sister’s talented hands. As someone who definitely can’t do makeup, I however sure can spot stunning work when I see it 😄.  This ladies and gentleman is a woman who’s got some real magic at her fingertips.

As with bride’s ensembles, grooms wear or to-be grooms wear (ONE MUST BE PRECISE 😎) has also gone through definite trends over time.  Gone are the days, men’s outfits were limited to a formal suited up look or a more desi route. Today, there are gobs of choices at your dispense and I’m loving how there’s been a shift towards a more casual and individual trend. Remember, the right attire for your big day is always about a combination of your individual taste and style.

Boris chose to keep it light and breezy in a classic white fitted shirt teamed with black trousers.  You’ve probably noticed my love for white shirts. They’re classy and elegant, while being suitable for any occasion. Take a look at Boris y’all. This is why. Pictures really can do all the talking!

Your engagement ensemble is as important as your special day bridal wear. It is one of the first of many elements to get added to your trousseau. Now, what constitutes as engagement ensemble depends on bride to bride. For some it could be a sari, for some it could be the lehenga route. Honestly, it’s all about what makes you happy.

Hitha picked out on this stunning pink kancheepuram silk sari with a thick golden zeri border from Seemati, Kochi to mark her day. I think it’s fair to say pink is a colour that works for all occasions and you can choose from lighter to darker shades of this colour. The choices are infinite.

The ultimate game changer of your look is always hands down going to be your jewellery and there is a reason why I’ll keep saying this till the end of time. One requires the right kind of baubles to create an impactful look. Our belle choose to go with a trend that’s quite the rage these days – layering.  The trend of layering necklaces has been in for a while and I’d say still going seemingly strong. While the layered  always seems effortless, I think in actuality it takes more effort to make it look right and she sure made it right. Look at how effortless it looks.

Our stunner’s gorgeous hair and makeup are courtesy of Maya’s Beauty Clinic, Kottayam. I always make it a point to ask my brides why they chose a particular MUA. You don’t want to trust your D day look with just anyone, do you?

One of the first steps in choosing a MUA is finding out “the look you want to look and what makes you feel confident”. This should be your jumping off point. Having seen Maya’s magic work before and knowing it would be exactly the style she wanted – simple, subtle and elegant, she knew right away who to choose. Look at her glow y’all ❤️.

Now if you’re a groom on the lookout for something dashing and easy to wear then look no further. Sporting a bandgala is the easiest way to look regal. This is an outfit that is astutely tailored to perfection and exudes class and our dapper boy here shows us why this is such a fought after look for events. Boris chose a classic Bandhgala from Raymond, Kochi paired with matching pants and a pocket square for that structured look and don’t they make such a dashing pair?

Speaking of dashing, another element that adds a dash of style is hanging flowers. Hanging flowers always gets me excited for they create such a statement and make a massive impact visually. Quite the win-win if you ask me. This stunning and elegant stage décor was done by Hitha’s family florist and every element you lay your eye on was done as per request to perfection. Easy to see why he’s their go to guy and don’t you also think she’s got quite the eye for asthetic-ness?

There’s something about a minimalist but elegant wedding look that always wins me over. And let me tell you, our stunner’s D day look is one that is going to leave you breathless. I know I say this a lot but trust me folks, I’m always right when it comes to weddings 😄.

When it comes to planning out your wedding, there’s nothing more stress inducing for a bride than finding the outfit you want to say your “I do” in. After all, shopping for your wedding outfit is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. With endless choices to choose from, the most formidable part is narrowing down the style you want. Trust me, without an idea of what you’re looking for, the quest for the dress is just going to end in endless frustration.

However, our belle here already knew what she was looking for before starting the search and you’ll see why having such a clear cut idea always pays off. A subtle yet jaw dropping vision is how I’d describe Hitha’s wedding day look. This stunning subtle yet jaw dropping ensemble is courtesy of Seemati, Kochi and adding a pop of colour was the perfect addition of an emerald combined Polki necklace handpicked by our bride from Prince Jewellery, Kochi who wanted to add in a spin to her Southern ethnic look.

Now there’s going to be hardly moments in life where you get to wear something as ethereal and elaborate as a wedding veil. Although a veil may not be for every bride, I love how easily a bridal veil can elevate your look. The multi dollar question is if you’re someone considering a veil is do you wear the veil above or below your hairdo’? While the answer lies on your personal preference, I do think considering a few factors will help such as the neckline of your ensemble and the volume of your hair do.

Placing the veil below your hair do will work wonders when you’re styling it with a low or an open neckline. Why explain when I can just show you how ethereal Hitha’s veil looks (with this very fashion manthra in mind) done to perfection by Rani Pink, Kochi where the designer herself suggested the intricate work you see on the veil. This is why I’ll always preach that it is so important to choose your vendors wisely for they are the experts who can truly bring your vision to fruition and make your vision a reality.

Weddings truly are the time for planning everything – from the right clothes to the right footwear. While most everyone prefers to wear either high heels or stilettos perhaps let’s walk towards a different path( I promise to sneak in word puns till I die 😜). If you’re someone like me whose worst fear is falling flat on your face in heels or you’re someone looking for a break from the pain, I’d say go our stunner’s route of wearing these beautiful customised juttis from Needle Dust. Not only are they going to give your feet a break, they’re aesthetically pleasing too. Whoever said “no pain, no gain” really needs to look this way 😄.

You can betcha when our bride looks this breathtaking; our man of the hour is going to be quite the dapper sight himself. Boris chose to go down the custom tux route from Van Heusen, Kochi to match his bride and when done correctly, you can be pretty sure all eyes won’t be just on the bride herself 😉.

By now it’s no secret, how much I love sharing in videos along with pictures. I love watching and being able to see a little into a day that’s so precious for everyone. Unlike pictures and words, videos give you a tiny peek into the voices, the love and emotions that pictures sometimes could miss out on. I couldn’t resist sharing in this aesthetically captured video of Hitha and Boris where you get to hear them both speak dotingly about each other. A lil heads up, you’re going to be watching this video on a loop for a while 😍.

Always the last but never the least ❤️.Let’s move onto one of my most favourite parts, shall we? COUPLE FACT. Arranged marriages have truly changed drastically over the last couple of decades. Gone are the days where you’d get engaged just a day after meeting each other. Times truly have changed.

Two people and the love between indeed make a relationship but what cements a lasting relationship is time.  Time is required for love to grow but that doesn’t mean you have to spend all your time together. Well, you can and should if you want to 😉 but the secret lies in making sure the time you do allows you to see if your differences complement and create a  balance allowing growth within the relationship.  Taking their time to know each other better and allowing their hearts to do its magic is how folks their love story began.

To many more year of love and happiness. This definitely mandates a toast. Cue glasses clinking 😄. I’m mighty pleased at how the pictures are falling in line 😉.

And as always, if you have any questions for me regarding this post or otherwise, you know what to do 🥰. Don’t forget to show us some love on our Instagram handle   @epokalyanam and Facebook page  @epokalyanam.theblog. And please feel free to drop me in a message if you love what you read and see. I always love hearing from you all. Psst, by doing so you’ll be absolutely making my day.

❤️,

Elza
