When we talk about weddings, we talk about love, laughter and family around you. But sometimes, life takes you by surprise and today’s wedding will show you that despite every hurdle your way, MIRACLES DO HAPPEN.
I’m sure all my fellow readers will remember the recent floods in Kerala. Families were stranded, people lost their loved ones, people trying to survive, weddings called off and most importantly total strangers helping one another out in time of need. It is amazing how much a community comes together when a calamity strikes.
Today’s wedding is one that happened right in the midst of all this tribulation and they managed to become Mr and Mrs despite everything. Quite a somber beginning to a wedding, right? But when it ends in love, it is one worth sharing ❤️. Let’s go meet our stunner bride and groom, shall we 😃?
Meet our beautiful bride, Shamil and her gallant groom, Reuben. For their wedding, Shamil chose to step out in an effortless elegant gown. This beautiful gown by Mynamour,Dubai is worked with Swarovski crystals and beads on the bodice along with an illusion sweetheart neckline underneath. The illusion neckline is something of an on trend feature at the moment, which I for one am a big fan of 😍. It’s elegant and stylish and has an air of mystery at the same time and allows you to show skin. Quite the win win, in my bride book.
Her easy breezy swept up hair do and makeup was courtesy of the talented Blessy . She chose to complete her skin-like makeup with a sweep of pink all over and completing the look was this gorgeous one layered diamond necklace from her mom’s collection 😍 and small drop diamond earrings from Kalyan Jewellers, Dubai.
As you know by now, our belle got married right in the midst of the heavy rains in Kerala due to which a lot of facets about her big day went haywire. And the most indispensable factor, the groom 🤵. With the waters rising in Kochi, our groom was nearly going to miss the D DAY. But miracles of miracles, our dapper and his family made it to Kerala just in the nick of time.
Something that really stood out to me was Shamil telling me “people backing out, guest list dropping, flowers for décor not arriving, caterers saying no food supply, no electricity and no water. Are we going to have the wedding? Is it happening? Are we going to cancel it? Postpone it? We were contemplating all possibilities. I couldn’t imagine the one perfect day I dreamed of was turning out to be a disaster”. And truly my heart ached for this bride who has been planning her big day ever since.
A special trivia about our duo’s wedding is the date –18.08.18 which is particularly auspicious. The Chinese and Feng Shui believe that any date that ends in 8 is particularly lucky as 8 symbolizes infinity and ironically , this date did turn out to be lucky despite the odds. Our groom and his family managed to make it right on the day before the big day and they decided to go on with the wedding. You have the bride and the groom and voila 🤵👰.
And go on, we shall 💪. Our dapper boy was all suited up to marry the love of his life in a deep blue suit from Raymonds, Dubai. The current trend for grooms is to wear lighter wedding suits than the more traditional black. Blue wedding suits have gained popularity in the recent year and its not going anywhere anytime and I’m definitely not complaining 😄.
Weddings truly are the pinnacle of celebrations because it applauds the unity of two people under the powerful and enchanting redolence of love. Love, in itself is something worthy to be truly adored, which is why when it comes to weddings, people spend extra time and care when deciding over the small details and nobody loves small details than I do 🙋♀️.
Reuben’s talented sister in law whipped up their beautiful wedding invitation cards and was the mastermind behind every tiny detail you see in this wedding. From the ring basket to the flower girl crowns, everything was put together by this belle. Don’t you just love it when the family steps in with love ❤️?
The décor for their wedding is one that deems attention. Done by the lovely ladies at B & A events, Kochi it truly was one well thought out .Now wedding décor doesn’t get more classic than an ornate chandelier. While you might be used to seeing chandeliers in traditional ballrooms they can instantly add elegance to a space and I love how they chose to incorporate it into their wedding.
My favourite part of this wedding is despite the odds, our bride kept her chin high and made sure it was a day to remember. A lil belle fact- our beautiful loves to dance and she wanted to incorporate a little of who she was into the D Day. So a dance was planned with her cousins and friends but due to the floods a lot of them couldn’t show up but she kept her spirits up and set that dance floor on fire 🔥. You can also see her dapper boy busting a move or two too 🕺🏼. And all of this was captured beautifully by Magic Motion Media, Kochi.
What really warmed by heart about their big day was seeing all the evident love shared by the families. Our bride’s and groom’s siblings put together this special video with all their favourite memories with them both along with the wishes of those who couldn’t make it. Does it get any sweeter than this 😍?
Wait a minute, it actually does 😉. Now y’all better get your tissues ready. Something that really tugged at my heart was a little tid bit of this wedding I got to see. A lot of Shamil’s near and dear ones couldn’t make it to their special day due to the floods but she made it a point to thank each and every one who were there and those who couldn’t make it but wanted to. Our belle broke down into tears talking about her big day and about her bestie who couldn’t make it . Without your friends and family, your big day isn’t complete but love is also about treading forward and cherishing the memories and that is what our dapper couple did 💑.
To warm up their hearts, everyone set the dance floor on fire with their moves. Before busting a move, our belle changed into this enchanting red kancheepuram silk saree accentuated with gold mottifs all over from Seemati, Kochi. Our groom chose to up his game with a change of attire and you all know by now how much I love it when the grooms have a change of clothes too. A win win if you ask me 😄.
Now time for my favorite- COUPLE FACT. Our adorable couple here have been friends since high school. They’ve known each other half their childhood and that friendship blossomed into what you see today ❤️.
Friendships are one of life’s greatest joys. Finding someone we can share our heart with – someone who understands and accepts us just the way we are is priceless. And when we have that deep friendship with the very man you married, it is a tremendous gift indeed . I’m sure our duo couldn’t agree more 😃.
