Ramya & Hari

So, I get asked often, do I write only about Christian weddings. Well, this stunning bride should be the answer to that much and very asked question šŸ˜„.

People, who know me well, definitely will know my love for weddings and rituals. Till date, I haven’t come across a bride who hasnā€™t impressed me with how she’s chosen to put together her big day. Weddings today truly are becoming an outlet for one’s ingenuity and thought. You’ll know what Iā€™m talking about as you read furtherĀ šŸ˜.

Meet our gorgeous bride, Ramya and her dreamy green eyed man Hari. Psst, random fact: Do you know that only 2% of the world’s population has green eyes?! Talk about a rarity and a rare manĀ šŸ˜‰.

Now our bride chose to tread a little differently. Instead of going the usual route of having an engagement ceremony, she chose to host a pre wedding celebration. Weddings are fun by definition , but they are subject to long standing traditions and are full of intense emotions so our bride decided to host a celebration to have some fun and dance off all that anxiety a wedding can possibly bring. Quite smart thinking donā€™t you think so šŸ¤©?

For her prelude to the big day , our bride chose to dazzle in a golden fuchsia lehenga from Samyakk, Bangalore. The blouse is embellished with golden sequins and zari work and the fushia lehenga skirt is beautifully hand worked .To complete the whole ensemble, she paired it up with a heavily worked net duppata embellished with sequins and red sequined border and jewellery from Ganjam Jewellery, Bangalore. And I think the true beauty of this outfit, lies in the right balance that it strikes between bling and elegance.

Our genetically blessed green eyed man, chose to complement our bride in a navy blue custom made embroidered sherwani suit and golden aligarhi pyjamas from Lagan, Chennai which was paired up with these striking jet black mojaris.

Receptions are fun by definition, but if your goal is to make your big day a memorable moment for your family and friends ā€” not just for you and your groom ā€” you’ll want to focus your attention on your guests. And that is exactly, what our bride chose to do. Ramya specifically foresaw that a mehendi corner was set up for all the guests. Having mehendi adorned for your friends and family on your big day is a definite way to make it memorable no matter what, with guests appreciating their beautiful custom-created artwork for a long time even after the event. At the end of the day, it is the memories we take back homeĀ ā¤ļø.

Another one of my favorites is how she incorporated in the idea of a bangle stand in too. There truly exists no woman who doesnā€™t love her bangles and that is a known fact. So, our quick thinking stunner made sure all the women had a chance to adorn these gorgeous glass bangles onto their wrists and dance away the night šŸ’ƒšŸ».

Now their dĆ©cor was one that deemed attention. It is essential to remember that your dĆ©cor is what sets the mood and frames your emotions. When planning for decoration for such large event, it is important to start your planning as far ahead in advance as possible. Remember time and choosing the right event coordinators are essential in tying the whole event together. Our bride wanted hanging floral arraignments and fairy lights everywhere. Psst ,she told me how much she loved the dĆ©cor at Samantha Ruthā€™s engagement and that is what Maritus events & Wedding Planners,Kochi strove to reflect. The subtle theme of peach was chosen and the stage was lit up with fairylights and these stunning hanging peach roses along with red gereberas to create a little pop.

If youā€™re drawn to details like how I am. You will absolutely love that our bride herself designed the name boards and the compact table cards you can see everywhere on their pre wedding celebration. Sometimes, the simplest details can make the biggest statement. A pointer for all you brides out there šŸ’”, never overlook the small and tiny details of your big days, they are completely a great way to add a touch of style.

Now, the culture and heritage of southern India is so rich and diverse in itself, that we have many different ethnic groups residing in the peninsular region. There are many traditions in each ethnic group that makes every wedding different from the other. Our stunner bride, comes from the Chettiyar clan so we get to see her in two different saris. One that the bride wears for/during the ongoing pooja and the other one is gifted by the grooms family to wear during the thalli-kettu(tying the knot).

For the pooja, our bride chose to wear a rich blue kancheepuram silk sari with golden zari border and silver zeri work all over from Prakash Silks, Kancheepuram. Her stunning custom made blouse needs to be given its due credit too. This gorgeous blouse from Ishithaa boutique, Chennai is hand worked to perfection and is embellished with golden zeri, sugar beads and blue satin threads. A definite mention to how all the designing, discussions and measurements of these blouses happened all online. Iā€™m often skeptical when brides tell me theyā€™ve done everything through cyber space but now I’m completely bowled over.

For the thali-kattu , our bride was luminous in a hand-loomed pink kancheepuram silk sari with golden zari border and gold zeri work all over. Her stunning hand worked blouse is embellished with white rhinestones, golden and deep red zardosi and is again from Ishithaa boutique, Chennai.

Ā Her lovely hair and makeup was done by Ambika pilla ,Trivandrum and speaking of hair, Ramyaā€™s pelli poolajada was from Pelli poolajada, Trivandrum .And for you newbies (like me šŸ˜¬), pelli poolada, is an age old custom where Indian women wear tied jasmine/roses,lillies on their hair for functions.

Ā The gorgeous jewellery our bride chose to wear along both her saris are an amalgamation of VBJ, Chennai and Malabar gold & Diamonds, Trivandrum.

Ā And not to forget our handsome groom. Hari chose to complement our bride in a subtle and elegant manner by opting for a mandarin collared textured white kurta from Manyavar along with a traditional white dhoti.

Indian weddings and garlands are two indispensable entities. Today, there is such a great variety of wedding garland designs in the market but by far this is by most favorite. If you look closely, you can see how these garlands are made from rose petals entwined with jasmine buds. These beauties were bought in all the way from Coimbatore courtesy of Maritus events & Wedding Planners,Kochi on a special request by the bride herself. And their stunning pictures were taken by the ever famous Weva Photography, Kochi.

And not to forget, my most favorite part about weddings – the invites. The elegant wedding invites were courtesy of the bride herself and if you pay attention, youā€™ll see how the logo is a concoction of their initials šŸ˜. I repeat on a loop. I absolutely love it when brides incorporate a little bit of who they are into the wedding.

And as always,Ā if you have any questions for me regarding this post or otherwise, you know what to doĀ  šŸ˜ƒ. Donā€™t forget to show us some love onĀ ourĀ Instagram handleĀ  app-icon2 @epokalyanam andĀ Facebook page Ā face3Ā  @epokalyanam.theblog. Psst, by doing so youā€™ll be absolutely making my dayĀ šŸ˜ .

Lots of Ā  ā¤ļø ,
