Often I get asked, what is the hardest thing about planning a wedding? Is it the shopping, is it in finding the right jewellery? Or is it really in finding THE man š? On a side note, this works both ways. I always tend to look at things from a woman/bridezilla perspective since thatās who I am and was š. But I must admit, once a bridezilla, always bridezilla. There just aināt no going back š.
Iām going to say hands down, finding the better half is so much easier than everything else that planning a wedding entails. Itās a lot of work yāall which is why I think everybody deserves a word of appreciation after pulling off a stunning wedding. Maybe Iāll start gifting certificates from Epo Kalyanam š!
Now letās get down to business, shall we fellow humans? Meet todayās stunning duo, Reesa and Peter. Also, it could be just me but donāt you think their names have such a complimenting ring to each other š?
For their fixation, Reesa stepped out in a unique lil number. Now you canāt really go wrong when it comes to playing around with pastel colours. While I do know they are a tried and tested route, every bride wears the same color differently and I hope all my brides-to-be out there, hesitating to test the waters of pastel hues remember this š – EVERY BRIDE IS DIFFERENT. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU.
The highlight of our belleās ensemble is that the entire outfit was styled by her itself. She went on a hunt for the perfect material, found the one, sketched the design up and voila, what you get is the PERFECTION you see done beautifully by Kalaakaari, Kochi. What I love the most about the ensemble is the frills on the sleeves and the floor-length jacket with hand-embroidered work all over. If youāre someone who loves Indian ensembles but have the inhibition if it would be enough to make a style statement, our stunner here should calm your worries š.
While Reesa stole the spotlight in her beautiful self-designed outfit, our dapper boy was no less the sight himself. Complimenting his beautiful wife to be, was our handsome boy in a crisp white Chinese collared shirt paired with the oh so classic black pant and brown oxford shoes. Also, a disclaimer to everyone whoās potentially going to be squinting their eyes at the pictures, I KNOW THE CLARITY IS LACKING. The fixation was a close-knit family affair so cameras werenāt around to click their big day. I loved their outfits too much to not show a tiny glimpse into it. Y’all can thank me later šš.
For their engagement, our belle swayed away from the pastel trend and chose to go the route of ādeep colors’ā. Stern on wanting a banarasi saree to stand apart from the crowd, she picked out this deep purple banarasi silk saree embellished all over with silver zari and a thick zari border from Taneira, Bangalore. My absolute favorite is the contrast the deep olive green blouse adds to the ensemble. Breaking the monotony were these gorgeous gold statement jewellery from the renowned MOD, Kochi.
While unadorned hair sure is beautiful on its own, hair accessories add a special extra dimension. A great way to add to your tresses is by incorporating in a little flower power like our belle did which was a handmade accessory made with love by her aunt. Honestly, if you ask me, nothing says love more than handmade ā¤ļø.
Gone are the days when men had to struggle choosing outfits for their big days. May I also add, gone are the days when it was only the bride stealing the spotlight š. I love how grooms of today are stepping up their game. They have so many options available to choose from and they sure are doing it wisely.
Stepping up to match his beautiful bride-to-be, was Peter in a traditional Nehru jacket with a twist. The embellishment on the Nehru collar is what really won me over and not to mention the subtle blend of the classic colours- white and black and breaking that monotony was the incorporation of the beige pocket square. Clearly, our groom has won me over š„.
Their wedding is what really caught my eye and had me drooling. I love seeing brides incorporate a lil of themselves into their big days. Their special day was once again a chance for our stunnerās creativity to shine. Starting a strong trend among her friends and family, was our belle glowing in this self-designed breathtaking cream lehenga š„. Truly what caught my breath was how the entire outfit was orchestrated in by Reesa and her twin sisterās mind who both set out, found THE fabric again and got it customized and made with love from T & M, Kochi. I have a feeling that weāll be seeing this beautiful selling her creations soon and everyone in town flocking. I for sure will. I may be fashion challenged but I do sure can recognize talent š.
When piecing together your wedding day baubles, keep in mind that the jewellery should complement and not overpower. The key is ā DONāT WEAR A NECKLACE IF IT COMPETES WITH YOUR OUTFIT.Ā Sometimes, itās all about that one stellar piece and itās all you need š„.
Validating my sentiment was Reesa picking out this stellar kundan jewellery and earrings from Kirthi Diamond Jewellery, Kochi who really kicked the ball out of the park. I often get asked do I get paid for vouching for stores or boutiques. What yāall need to know is, I DONāT. Thatās not how I roll. I talk about vendors who my brides love and vouch for and pair it up with a copious amount of research from my behalf. I just make your job in finding exceptional vendors a little easier actually #shamelessselfplugĀ š!
Reesaās hair and makeup was courtesy of Mayaās Beauty Clinic, Kottayam who really did a stellar job on keeping it au-natural, just like how our beautiful wanted it to be. A little tip to all my bridezillaās out there – the ideal wedding makeup should both compliment your outfit as well as make your best features shine. Whether a bold lipstick defines your everyday style or not – you shouldnāt overlook the magic choosing the right lipstick can do for you. This peachy hued orange worn by our stunner shows us exactly what Iām rambling about. Thank God for pictures, I tell you š.
While our bride was radiant, Peter was nothing short of a stunning sight himself. Now a grey suit is a great addition to oneās wardrobe and certainly is one that deserves a special place among the bevy of black and navy blue suits. This sharp and versatile number was hand-picked by our handsome groom from Kachins, Dubai and isnāt it such a clean, contemporary look that can be worn for countless occasions š?
Today with a copious amount of dĆ©cor options and details, it is quite understandable why minimalism has become such a major wedding trend and let me tell you exactly why ā there is beauty in simplicity. Organic minimalism with lots of white and accents of greenery were our coupleās choice for their special day and was done to perfection by the talented folks at Creattio Events & Weddings, Kochi.
Last but not the least, letās head on over to my favourite ā COUPLE FACT. As a blogger, I have the privilege to meet all sorts of couples and I always take the opportunity to ask them about all things under the sky. Now what is deemed important in a relationship can significantly differ from couple to couple but one trait that is essential everywhere is ā KINDNESS. It being what glues couples together and makes each partner feel loved and validated. The funny thing about love and kindness is that theyāre both as boundless as the sea. The more you give, the more you get.
Just remember there are always two ways to look at kindness. Something as you either have or you donāt or as something you can practice and grow stronger. If youāre someone in a relationship or someone getting there, youāll know that STRONG relationships just donāt happen. YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK for it to thrive.
We need to thank these two for pointing out something thatās often so overlooked in relationships, donāt we? Letās send a truckload of good vibes and love their way peeps ā¤ļø.
And as always, if you have any questions for me regarding this post or otherwise, you know what to do š. Donāt forget to show us some love on our Instagram handleĀ @epokalyanam and Facebook page @epokalyanam.theblog. And please feel free to drop me in a message if you love what you read and see. I always love hearing from you all. Psst, by doing so youāll be absolutely making my day.
ā¤ļø,
Elza
