Sarah & Nevin

I love weddings(No secret there 😄).  Epo Kalayanam is more like my journal where I ONLY write about weddings and everyone gets to read pages from it. I’m an open book (I tried real hard there 😇 ). I also have a disease called ‘need to bring constant puns and wordplays into context’ . Not proud of it but it’s my nemesis 😎 .

There are days where I do wonder should I be closing down my book. I do talk about my love for weddings and writing but some days it does get really overwhelming. So recently someone mentioned to me ‘you just write and put pictures up’. Let’s just say the person was mighty lucky that I don’t throw a mean punch 😏 . But then I also get to meet a lot of wonderful, kind and  strong women along my way who make this blogging journey of mine so much more meaningful ❤️. I also happen to know this amazing remarkable man(who I’m married to btw 😎 ) who reminds me why I decided to start blogging. I do it so that I can help other brides-to-be to pull of their big day. So then, I dust myself up and choose to tread further. Now let’s go meet our stunning bride and groom, shall we 😄 ?

Meet our beautiful bride, Sarah and her mighty dashing man, Nevin. For their cozy intimate engagement, Sarah chose to go with my personal favorite color – blush pink ❤️. I love the pastel color palettes that so many brides are using these days. There’s something completely romantic about muted colors that they go well with any season, and you can make your décor match the hues you choose. It’s a win win, if you ask me 💪.

Our stunner mentioned to me how they chose to keep their engagement more of an intimate event and go all out for the other respective events. An intimate event can be a deeply personal and special experience, allowing you to spend the most important day of your life with just those who matter to you the most ❤️. But on the other side, a grand scale event with everyone you know can certainly be a lot of fun and a great way to keep the party going all night. So remember, to choose what feels right by you. At the end of the day, it’s about you on your big day.

Our dashing groom to be chose to deck himself up in this beaut of a silver suit paired with a black mandarin collared shirt from Zara, Doha. I love how they both look so complimenting to each other without either of the colors clashing with the other. A true symphony indeed 🎻.

Keeping in mind their cozy vibe, they chose to keep the stage décor very clean and simple . A beautiful white drapery with fairy lights and some ferns were what they chose and doesn’t it look so appealing to the eye? They also had these very quaint props all around done by the very talented Paper Whisk.

For the madhurumvepu, Sarah picked out this exquisite dark green lehenga  from Rang Roop, Chennai. The cherry on the top is the gold multi layered chain necklace that she is sporting from MOD Jewellers, Kochi. I love how elegant  it looks and especially the warm gold tones makes the green pop . So well thought out, isn’t it?

Her gorgeous hair and makeup was done by Aneez Ansari, Kochi .  I absolutely adore the side swept parted open hairdo going into soft curls. Now the big question is – “should you wear your hair up or down for your special day?”. Although this seems like something that wouldn’t be so difficult to decide but even something as tiny as this has a huge impact on your look.

For this dilemma what you need to keep in mind is that your hairstyle needs to last a long time ATLEAST 4 to 5 hours and it needs to be able to endure all kinds of conditions. Think sweat, humidity, breeze and hugs from many, many loved ones. So if your heart desires an up down, go for it but after you have a long talk with your MUA to check if it’s feasible. After all, no one wants a bee hive look on their special day (Psst, that’s me during every wedding in Kerala 😄).

Our handsome boy matched our stunner by choosing a classic cream coloured embroidered sherwani and jodphuri pants from Manyavar, Doha. Now it isn’t often I get to see a groom to be sportingly carry off a dupatta and I love how much it adds to the traditional austerity of the outfit.

I’m a sucker for all things weddings(no surprise there 😄) and I have to admit, I’m very lucky that I get to write about brides who chose to tread differently on their big day. There’s no denying that long sleeve weddings gowns have come back into fashion in a big way.  From Kate Middleton to the Kardashians, everyone’s jumping onto the bandwagon and I couldn’t be more excited.

Our gorgeous bride hand-picked this stunning ball gown from Label’m, Kochi. There’s something about this elegant gown that reminds me of snow fall. The intricate work on the sleeves reminded me of Christmas with snow falling everywhere

Let’s face it: when it comes to wedding mania, the spotlight traditionally falls on the bride and her dress. Thankfully, a shift has been taking place in the world of wedding fashion for some time(Yaay grooms 🕺). The groom of today approaches his wedding day ensemble as a reflection of his style and personality. Some grooms even take the road less traveled and go for a more laid back look. But the two most traditional wedding attire choices for a groom, a suit or a tuxedo, still remain the most popular. It’s easy to see why: they work well with the aesthetic and formality of many weddings.

But in the end, it’s your wedding and you can wear whatever you want—as long as it’s not a tuxedo with flip-flops. Please don’t wear a tuxedo with flip-flops 🙏.  True to that, our dapper groom chose to tux up in a tailored fit jet black tuxedo paired with the signature bow tie and pleated shirt from Zara, Doha. It is so easy to see why men go the traditional route by just taking one glance at our dapper boy 🔥.

When it comes to décor, flower walls top of the picture perfect wedding .This trend is quickly sweeping the wedding world, and for good reason—it’s beautiful! If you’re considering a flower wall for your own ceremony, do not overthink it twice. Look at the charm and grandeur it adds to the wedding and the pictures.

And not to forget, all of their gorgeous pictures were captured by the talented  Smoke Weddings, Kochi. Also, check out all of their adorable-ness while they both shake a leg 😍.

For their reception, Sarah dazzled in this stunning red kancheepuram silk sari with gold mottifs all over along with a thick zari border from Milan, Kochi. The highlight of this ensemble is this breathtaking ruby necklace and earrings she’s sporting from Malabar Gold and Diamonds, Kochi. It isn’t often I get to see the same colors in one outfit paired so beautifully together .  I personally always thought similar colors in one outfit would be nothing short of a car crash but look at that ❤️. I couldn’t be more wrong.

Now drum roll please. Time for COUPLE FACT ❤️. Heard of Cupid 🏹? Honestly who hasn’t 😄? Well, our stunning couple have their very own cupid. Our belle met the man of her dreams through her bestie who incidentally happens to be Nevin’s very own cousin. See, having your own brother wing man sure paid off for this groom 😉.

Something that really struck out me was Sarah sharing in ‘through all the ups and downs, we realized we couldn’t be with anyone else than each other’. I honestly used to think people in love just landed where they landed. But I’ve come to realize you don’t stay with someone by default. You stay with the person because you choose to. You choose the person over and over again and he chooses you back ❤️. That is how it works. Remember it take two to tango so they both deserve a huge round of applause 👏. For choosing to love continuously through the ups and downs with each other side by side.

This stunning couple also just recently celebrated 365 days of pure wedded bliss 😍. Join me in sending them the best of everything their way – more love, more joy and more happiness.

And as always, if you have any questions for me regarding this post or otherwise, you know what to do. Don’t forget to show us some love on our Instagram handle @epokalyanam and Facebook page   @epokalyanam.blog. And please feel free to drop me in a message if you love what you read and see. I always love hearing back from y’all 😍. Psst, by doing so you’ll be absolutely making my day.

Lots of  ❤️,

Elza
